User’s Guide: Getting Started

  1. View Lesson Plans and Activities

Get familiar with the activities you will be assigning to students and view downloadable standards-based lesson plans.

Click here for a TIP on using interactives with the whole class.

  2. Print and Distribute Class Code

Access a printable sheet of codes for student registration. When you register, a student login code will be automatically generated. You will find this code in the gray box on the top right side of the My Workspace page. All of your students will use this code to create their own private workspaces where they will access their assignments and save their work.

  3. Student Registration

Students Register - Students register by entering the class code on the Student Portal page and creating a profile. They will choose a Username and Password that they will use to login so that they can view their assignments and save their work.

Students Receive Assignments - Anytime after registering, students can login their own private workspaces where they will see their list of assignments. To begin work on an activity they simply click on the title of the activity.

Students Save Their Work - Students can save an incomplete assignment by clicking on “Save.” They will be able to return to their work at any time. When they have completed the assigned activity they will have an option to save the work to return to later or hand it in. When they choose to hand in the assignment they will not be able to return to it. Assignments that are handed in are available to you for review, grading, and feedback.

  4. Assign and Grade Student Work

Assign Work - When you register, ALL available student activities are automatically pre-assigned to your entire class. You can elect to un-assign an activity by going to the 'Manage Class Assigments' page in My Workspace.

Track Work - Go to the Grade Assignments tab and quickly view which activities have been assigned, which activities the students are still working on, and which activities have been handed in for your review.

Grade Work - Click on the green Completed button and the student’s complete assignment will appear. As you review their responses you can type your comments in the box next to each student answer. Select a grade from the drop-down box at the bottom of the page and hit “Submit.” Students will be able to see your comments and their grade the next time they login to their Workspace.

  5. Manage Your Student List

Edit students’ profiles or delete students from your list.
